The Howrah Bridge you see in Calcutta was dreamed of by the British in 1855. For this, the Calcutta Port Trust was created in 1870, and the Howrah Bridge Act was passed in 1871, and the work of building it began. In 1874, when this bridge was being built, there was a very dangerous storm, which damaged the bridge. But it was corrected and this bridge was opened in October of the same year. Electricity poles were also installed on it in 1879 to use it at night. But when the load on this bridge started to increase, a big iron bridge was built, which is in front of us today as Howrah Bridge.
In the picture you can see the old form of Howrah Bridge. which was drawn in the 1890s.
