Man Singh, the ruler of Amer, was a Rajput. Man Singh was the general of Akbar. Man Singh was a skilled general. When a rebellion broke out in Afghanistan, Akbar sent Man Singh to suppress it. Man Singh defeated 5 tribes of Pashtuns (Pathans) who were rebelling there. Yusufzai and Mandar were the chief among these tribes. After this victory, Man Singh changed the flag of the kingdom of Amer. The flags of the 5 major Pashtun tribes were combined to create a new flag that had 5 colors. Before that, their flag was the flag of the Raghuvansh dynasty, which had been flying since the time of Maharaja Dasharatha. A Kachnar tree was made on that flag. Man Singh achieved great success on Bengal and other fronts. Man Singh also settled a town called Manpur in Gaya district. Man Singh was a favorite of Akbar, Akbar affectionately called Man Singh Farzand (son). Man Singh also brought some Pathans with him from Afghanistan and settled them in Rajasthan. Some of the descendants of Yusufzai, Man Singh, especially those living in Jaipur, and some of the people of the gotra now apply the title of Rajawat.
