- Akbar Allahabadi (On death of Sir Syed)

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was a prominent scholar, reformer and educator during the 19th century. His significance lies in his pioneering efforts to uplift the Indians through educational empowerment, social reformation and political awareness. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan inspired his age and the coming centuries with his thoughts and actions. His vision and contributions have left a lasting impact on the development of modern India. Sir Syed, an extraordinary visionary, made amazing strides in several domains of life. He once said, “In my understanding, the soul of a human being, devoid of knowledge, is just like an oddly spotted marble. Until and unless the marble is well carved, the splendour of the marble stone remains unnoticeable. The same is true of the human soul. For the soul to be beautiful, it has to be carved by the intellectual hands of knowledge”.
