A Glimpse of History Tipu sultan


 Was Tipu Sultan really anti-Hindu, shouldn't his fight against the British be considered a part of the freedom struggle?


 Tipu Sultan was the ruler of Mysore in the 18th century.  Tipu Sultan was born on 10 November 1750 at Devanahalli in Kolar district near Bengaluru in present day Karnataka.  His full name was Sultan Fateh Ali Khan Shahab.  His father's name was Hyder Ali and his mother's name was Faqrunnisa.  His father Hyder Ali was a general of the Mysore Empire who became the ruler of the Mysore Empire in 1761 with his strength.  Tipu is known as the Lion of Mysore.

At the end of the 18th century, Tipu's father Hyder Ali died and Tipu Sultan got the throne of Mysore in his place.  With the arrival of Tipu Sultan, the imperialist policy of the British came under tremendous pressure, where on one hand the Company government was trying to expand its nascent British Empire, on the other hand, Tipu protected Mysore with his bravery and diplomacy and protected his motherland from the British.  were kept away from.  In the second half of the 18th century, Tipu tried to expel the British from India.


 However, after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, the French also left Tipu's side and this joint military force proved to be very important for Tipu and in this battle he was defeated in the capital of Srirangapatnam.  Thus, Tipu was forced to sign a treaty of 1792 and confiscated half of his empire as compensation for the fierce war.

He trusted the French too much.  He was independent but still he cared a lot about the sufferings of the people.  Therefore, the farmers were happy during his rule.  He was a staunch and devout Muslim. He looked at Hindus and Muslims alike.
