History of Tees maar Khan

Who was the real Third Khan and what feat did he do? The name itself became a proverb

You must have often heard people say - Don't be too much of a 'Tismar Khan'. According to books, Tismar Khan literally means a person who has killed thirty animals or men. Many times this proverb is also used in a sarcastic tone for a person who makes big things or boasts. But actually this person was Mir Mehboob Ali Khan, the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad.

There was no ban on hunting in those days. Rajas, Maharajas, Nawabs and Nizams used to hunt openly and it was their favorite sport. Mir Mehbub Ali Khan was also fond of hunting and often used to camp in his princely state and hunt for several days. Mir Mahbub Ali Khan killed 30 tigers in his princely state. At that time it was considered an act of great bravery. After this, Mehboob Ali Khan's name became 'Teesmar Khan' i.e. the one who killed 30 animals as a symbol of Bahadur.
