On 11 #January 1616, the Mughal emperor Jahangir gave permission to the British ambassador, Thomas Roe, to open the first factory in Surat.
#Though British traders started trading in India from 24 August 1608, but they did not have a license to open a factory in India from the Mughal court, while the Portuguese did. After Jahangir, the Maharaja of Vijayanagar also allowed the British to open a second factory in Madras.
# At that time, the kings and emperors allowed the British to trade but they did not know that they wrote about their own ruin. As long as the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb was alive, the British did not have the courage, but after the death of Aurangzeb, the British started occupying the land of India.
